"First Contact" Social
Saturday November 19th, 2011
Please join NWSFS for our November Social at the Bond's home Saturday, November 19th. The social will begin around 4:30 PM and end no later than 9:30 PM due to bedtime for the wee ones.
We will celebrate "First Contact". In light of the holiday at the end of the month, we thought it might be fun to explore the theme of first contact both in conversation and writing so we'll also be having a short story contest.
Submit your short stories (500-1,000 words) by the Thursday before the social to Kathy Bond at katharinebond@gmail.com Kathy will print up some copies and have them bound and laying about during the social. People can read them, vote on their favorite, and we'll have a prize.
Address is 6006 17th Ave NW
Seattle, WA 98107.
Contact phone is 206-349-8839.
This is a potluck, so bring your contribution of a main dish, side dish, munchies, or dessert.
Logistics: Street parking is generally plentiful. We do have steps up to the front door, but you can side-step them by going down the alley over mostly even ground and in to their home through the backyard where there are fewer steps into the home.
No cats or dogs on the premises.
There are 2 young children so their home is mostly baby proof and they have toys appropriate for the preschool set. They also have a Wii that can be set up for older children. If you want to bring any toys for your kids, they ask that they not be choking hazards for a baby OR that you intend to watch out for them being on the floor.
Buses: Bond is in Ballard within walking distance of Metro routes 15, 17, 18, 75, and 44. The 28 is a bit of a hike, but still doable.
Directions: From I5 either direction, take the 45th/50th St exit. Head west on 45th towards the zoo/Ballard. Stay on 45th even as it turns into Market St. Take Market to 17th Ave NW and turn right. Take 17th up to 60th Ave NW, and our house will be on the rIght. It is a yellow house with purple door, and by that time of year, likely some Christmas lights.
